Presidential Decree No. 1598 — WHEREAS, the existing salary rate is not realistic in view of the complexity of the responsibilities and activities of the Legislative Branch of the Government and in view of the approved salary scale of Cabinet Ministers;

Section 1

Section 1. The salary of the Speaker of the National Assembly is hereby increased to P85,000 per annum and the salary of Deputy Prime Minister is hereby fixed at P80,000 per annum.

Section 2. There is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sum as may be necessary to pay the salaries provided in Section 1 hereof.
