DECLARING SATURDAY, JUNE 24, 2006, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA
WHEREAS , every year the City of Manila Celebrates June 24 as "Araw ng Maynila" in commemoration of the founding of the City as the premier Christian City of Asia; WHEREAS , Saturday, June 24, 2006, marks the 435th Foundation Day Anniversary of the City of Manila; WHEREAS , the residents of Manila, conscious of the historical and cultural significance of the event, desire to celebrate the same with appropriate ceremonies. NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA , Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO , do hereby declare Saturday, June 24, 2006, as special (non-working) day in the City of Manila. IN WITNESS WHEREOF , I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
